👉 Major Updates and Sneak Peak!
Futuroverse Chapter 2
Last week I asked for your input and that has helped me to crystallize my vision for the next chapter of this publication. So, here’s what’s changing.
New Feature - eBook downloads!
All paid subscribers now have access to ePub downloads of anything longer than a single post.
The downloads are available in a new section, called Downloads.
I will continue to post new stories and chapters weekly. Whenever I publish a book, I will add it to Downloads.
Now you can have everything I write in one convenient place. Online, offline, on your own device forever.
New Pricing!
When I started my Substack, I took the default pricing scheme and bumped it up a few bucks at every tier. I had no expectations — the one thing I didn’t want to do was undervalue myself.
Well, now it’s been almost a year and I’ve gotten enough data to come up with an actual pricing scheme that’s good and fair for us both.
Monthly Tier - Unchanged at $10 / month.
I’m keeping the monthly tier the same. I figure with the new ability to access ePub downloads, it’s a pretty good deal.
Right now I have four eBooks available in Downloads with another on the way once Rooting for the Apocalypse is done.
Every week I’m adding more stories and more chapters. And soon I’ll be upping the prices of my eBooks to create a better deal for paid subscribers and bring my pricing into line with industry standards.
Yearly Tier - $50 / year
Tempting, isn’t it? Such a good deal. Really, if you’re going to stick around a few months, you might as well stick around for a year. And hey…look…a button…It would easy. So, so easy…
Founding Tier - $100 once
The new founding tier will buy you a lifetime subscription to my Substack. Once I get my grubby paws on the money, I will send you a lifetime compensated subscription. I’ve been wanting to do something like this for a while, since it’s how I like to buy things.
Please note, you can also add a number higher than $100 if you are embarrassed by riches. Heck, you can add another zero at the end if you want. I won’t complain. I’ll even dedicate a book to you.
Also, I have upgraded all my current yearly subscribers to founders. Thank you for your early support! 🙏
What if I want to give you more money?
What a great question! I’m glad I imagined you asked. This year of Substack I’m all about growth. I want to take the charts by storm. I want you to be able to say, Oh yeah, Andy Futuro, I knew that guy when he was just an internet pipsqueak. I even chucked him a few bucks when he was eating cornmeal from a bucket.
So, if you have a friend who likes twisted horror and the kind of weird writing you just can’t find anywhere else, you can always buy them a subscription. You can buy one for everyone you know! Your boss. Your nan. Your estranged ex!
Hey, look, a convenient button 👇
And please…
Like, share, restack, comment, forward, etc. Even if you have the eBook. That engagement is my life’s blood on Substack.
Things that are going away…
The Index and Table of Contents
This was my attempt to manually link together the books I published here into some kind of passable navigation system. But it was a ton of work for me and of dubious utility.
So now that all the books will have ePub downloads for paid subscribers, I will no longer be doing any manual linking and navigation. The ePub is always going to be a better option for getting around a book.
Please note that all book and story posts are still divided into sections, so you can save a post to bookmark it and use the Next and Previous buttons to move through them.
The Free Trial
Since there’s no way to block off the Downloads section, I’m disabling the free trial option. But fear not. There’s still a ton of free content here and I’m always adding more. And I’ll still let new users unlock a paid post for free. Just not the ones with the downloads.
Things that are staying the same…
The email frequency. Pretty much everyone in the polls was happy with getting 1 - 3 emails a week from me and I’m happy to send 1 - 3 emails, so no tweaks there.
Just another reminder, you can always customize the emails you receive on your account page.
Please add me to your contacts to ensure you get these emails. The email addresses will be different for every section, eg: andyfuturo+music@substack.com or andyfuturo+dirtbag-literature@substack.com
You can always access everything on my Substack site.
What’s next?
You might wonder — what am I actually paying for here? What do you do with the money?
The answer is: I write.
I am a simple man with simple needs. The money you give me lets me meet my needs and occasionally buy something nice for my cat. And when my needs are met and my cat is happy, I don’t have to work for other people and I can spend my time writing.
There is a direct line between the amount of money I make on Substack and what I am able to produce. So what follows is a quick sneak preview of everything I want to make — if I can scrape the cash together.
Which of these books will actually come into being? That, my friends, is up to you.
🙏

I want to be angry because you basically took a poll and got the same sort of pay schema I did from inference complete with a one time buy for a founding plan... Goddammit Andy. Now I'm a hack imitator.
Those cover teasers be looking NICE
