What is Killstarter?

Killstarter is the number one funding platform for assassinations. Anyone can anonymously create an account, nominate a target for assassination, and craft a compelling narrative to convince backers to donate funds and assassins to use those funds to make a killing.

What are the basics?

A creator is the person or team behind the assassination, working to bring it to life.

Backers are folks who pledge money to join creators in funding an assassination.

The prize pool is the amount of money raised by backers to fund the assassination. There are different ways to divide the prize pool once an assassination has been funded, but generally it goes to the assassin carrying out the assassination.

Rewards are a creator's chance to share a piece of the assassination with their backer community. The number one reward is always the successful completion of the assassination, but many times creators like to add in fun incentives to help backers feel more invested in the assassination.

The target is the person nominated for assassination. Please note, we never use the word victim. At Killstarter, we believe that if enough people want you dead, they probably have a reason.

Assassins are the people who carry out an assassination. Sometimes the creator is the assassin, but often assassins will join a Killstarter later, when the prize pool is large enough to get their attention and make it worth their while. For more on assassins, see below.

What are the fees?

If an assassination is successfully funded, Killstarter collects a 15% fee from the prize pool. Strip, our payments processor, will also collect a payment processing fee (roughly 5-10%).

What is an inside assassin?

Many creators have an assassin in mind when they start their Killstarters. In fact, some creators are potential assassins who are raising money to see if there's interest in assassinating a target that they have access to.

We call these inside assassins, or insiders.

Insiders are friends, families, employees, servants, or associates of the target. They are usually highly motivated to assassinate their target and seeking the financial backing to make it feasible.

Insiders have an expectation of being able to commit the assassination and remain anonymous, but sometimes they will reveal themselves publicly. For example, a politician might assassinate the current officeholder of the position they seek, and use the publicity and prize pool to win the resulting election.

I don't have an insider. Can I still start a Killstarter?

Absolutely.

If you are a creator and you don't have an assassin in mind, you can start a wildcard assassination. Wildcard assassinations work by placing a bounty on the target's head (the prize pool) and then awarding the bounty to anyone who fulfills the contract.

Please note, that while wildcard assassinations are often funded successfully, they have lower success rates than insider assassination attempts.

What is a charity kill?

Any assassin can mark their assassination as a charity kill. If an assassination is a charity kill, once it is successfully carried out, the prize pool will be donated to the charity of the assassin’s choice.

Killstarters are a great way to raise money for charities!

Lucia was a pre-school teacher whose district was dissolved in the Emergency Rescue of the Americas act (ERAs). After she was fined for illegally educating unqualified children in her basement, she took her father's hunting rifle down to Kansas City, camped out on the roof of the Hiason Hotel, and placed a single .308 right in the temple of her target, Doug Peters, the president of the private equity firm that lobbied to have her district dissolved. Lucia knew she had no chance of escape and so she placed the next shot in her own mouth.

Lucia’s Killstarter raised over $8 million. Because she had marked it as a charity kill, the prize pool (minus fees) went directly to Loving Limbs, a charity that provides special assistance to children with polio.

Do you pay out for assassination attempts?

We do not pay out for assassination attempts. We only pay out for successful assassinations.

How do you determine if an assassination was a success?

We highly encourage all assassins to use our patented KillCon kit, which can quickly check several biological markers to confirm brain death, stopped hearts, and lethal blood loss. KillCon kits can directly connect to our servers using the ScatterLight private satellite system and confirm the kill within hours.

If a KillCon kit can’t be used, for example, in the case of a wildcard assassination with no exit plan, there will be an added delay to assassination confirmation.

We will first attempt to verify the official coroner’s report. If a territory lacks the social infrastructure to record death certificates, we verify through our team of trained auditors, using a combination of photographic, video, and biometric evidence.

We do not pay out for mutilations, serious injury, or comas. To avoid payment delays, we encourage all assassins to prioritize the lethality of their assassinations over more theatrical, but less effective methods.

Is there a minimum prize pool amount?

Yes. The minimum prize pool amount is $100,000, with a minimum of 100 separate backers. Most successfully funded assassinations go well above that amount with the number of backers in the thousands.

I'm afraid that my information will be leaked. What do you do to protect my security?

The right of capital privacy is of paramount importance to us.

Killstarter is a Cyprus-based, no-liability private capital entity that uses the highest encryption standards. All payments are made and received through our proprietary cryptocurrency, BloodMoney, which cannot be traced back to you. We require no identifying details in your profile.

What are the tips for starting a good Killstarter?

Presentation is everything in a successful Killstarter. You want to have a compelling story for why you want the target dead and how they have personally affected you or people you know. We recommend using a high-quality photo of the target and filling out as many details as possible about them, such as where they live, where they work, who they know, etc.

Even if you don't have all the information, backers can comment on your Killstarter and volunteer what they know to create a more complete profile of the target. This is especially helpful when funding wildcard assassinations. The more information you can provide the wildcard, the better the chance they will have at completing their mission and assassinating the target.

I want to add my target's family as a stretch goal. Why won't it let me?

Killstarter does not allow group assassination attempts. If you wish to add the members of a target's family, you will have to create separate Killstarters for each individual. At Killstarter, we do not believe in guilt by association.

What is the minimum age for a target?

The minimum age for a target is 18. The average age is 45.

My target died of natural causes with no claimed assassin. Can I get a refund for my donation?

Absolutely. If a target dies of natural causes before they can be assassinated, all donations are automatically refunded pending verification.

Please allow four to six weeks for your refund.

Someone else put up a target that I also want to assassinate. Can there be two Killstarter pages?

When you first create your Killstarter, we'll run the name of your target through our database to verify that it is a valid target and meets all of our target requirements. However, sometimes creators start Killstarters without having the full information on their target.

If you see that your target is also being targeted by another creator, please click the “Flag for Merge” button in the Killstarter’s options menu. This will bring the issue to our attention, and one of our operators will review the information. If a redundancy is found, all of the Killstarters for this target will be merged into a single page, combining the information, backers, and prize pools.

There's someone here that I don't want to be assassinated. How can I stop the assassination?

Killstarter is a platform for funding assassinations, not preventing them. If you see someone that you don't think deserves to be assassinated, you can always make protest vote on the Killstarter. Protest votes cost a minimum of $1 and have a maximum of $100. Unlike pledges from backers, protest votes will lower the prize pool amount. Please note protest votes are a beta feature.

The most effective way to prevent an assassination is to contact the target directly and let them know that they've been targeted. Although it's rare, sometimes targets will make public acts of contrition, and this can be enough to cause backers to cancel their pledges.

Is there a maximum pledge amount?

No. But please note, to prevent wealthy individuals from funding assassinations entirely on their own, we do have the minimum of 100 backers to ensure a just and fair assassination process.

Is this legal?

Short answer: Yes!

According to the 31st Amendment, “Congress shall make no law inhibiting the free flow of capital.”

Long answer: It depends. Some territories and protectorates have attempted to pass laws prohibiting tontines, murder contracts, and voluntary human bondage exchanges in direct violation of the 31st Amendment. Please consult the chart below to see if your rights to free flowing capital are fully protected.

Help! I saw my own name on Killstarter. Can you take it down?

We cannot take down Killstarters that do not violate our terms of service. Your best bet is to use the contrition button on the Killstarter option menu to address the backers fundraising to assassinate you.

Public acts of contrition, remorse, and promises to change your behavior followed by real, noticeable, tangible action have successfully convinced backers to cancel their Killstarter pledges.

How long can a Killstarter last?

The shortest time period for a Killstarter is seven days, the longest is six months. The sweet spot tends to be a month.

My Killstarter expired and wasn't funded. Can I still keep the prize pool for a wildcard assassination?

No. If your Killstarter was not funded, then you failed to prove that the target was a worthy candidate for assassination. All pledges will be refunded to backers. If a Killstarter fails to meet its funding goals, you must wait six months before starting a new Killstarter on the target.

Can I get some help with my Killstarter?

Yes, there are a number of boutique marketing firms that specialize in helping you put together a successful Killstarter campaign. We recommend Hey There Bloody Buddy and The Silver Hand.

Assassination fundraising marketing firms can take anywhere from 5% to 20% of the prize pool, but they have a much higher success rate in funding, and the prize pools tend to be larger overall.

My target is using FamilyShield. Can I still start a Killstarter?

Yes!

Many wealthy and powerful targets use the FamilyShield subscription service to surround themselves with sympathetic figures, usually unrelated children, to prevent assassinations. However, the FamilyShield service is mostly only effective at stopping wildcard assassinations.

Inside assassinations are effective against FamilyShield customers. Insiders typically know their target’s routine and habits enough to find them alone and vulnerable.

As long as the assassin does not violate Killstarter’s policy against collateral damage, you can still raise funds for an assassination even if the target is using FamilyShield, Myson BabyArmor, or VetWall services.

Can I target myself?

Yes! If you’re tired of living, starting a Killstarter for yourself is a great way to go out with a bang and make your final days exciting. Self targeting is most effective when used in combination with a charity kill.

I am the absolute last person you would expect to be using this site. I’ve been politically active for 20 years. I volunteered my behind off, knocking on doors and calling and texting voters. I worked on campaigns for my town mayor, state rep, state senators, presidential campaigns.

And after 20 years, the politicians are still asking for my money, and they're still asking me to volunteer, and they're still saying they need my help to do this or that, to protect our democracy and our rights and stop this or that disaster.

As I’ve posted before: Right person, wrong platform.

Ever since the passage of the 31st Amendment, the crowd-sourced homicide industry has exploded. While one of the first, and most successful platforms Killstarter is hardly the best. Their 15% fee is exorbitant, and while some of the assassinations are organic, most are obviously astroturf. It would not surprise me with the increased competition from other crowd-sourced homicide platforms if the people at Killstarter are juicing assassinations to boost profits.

Here are some superior alternatives to Killstarter:

Hemlock: Open source, good community features, and focus on ethical and painless killings. Has a nice video scroll feature that lets you quickly go through videos of successful killings.

Golden Year Gunners (Formerly Long Tooth): Really neat idea. All assassins are elderly people in hospice and done for charity. Yes, they have a much lower success rates, but it gives the elderly something to do while giving back to the community.

Stiletto: Only targets perpetrators of crimes against women. Very low ($10,000) minimum prize pool for successful fundings.

Crusade: Since most religiously motivated killings can be done through or with the backing of the government, I hesitated to include this. But, if you want someone killed for religious reasons and cannot be accommodated by the police or the morality brigades, Crusade is a great option and includes free absolutions for all backers. Some say their UI is hokey but I think it fits the theme. There’s also a satisfying sword sound in the app when you make a pledge.

Hit List: Simple, no frills, and low cost. Not much activity now but potential for growth.

Tumbrl Named after carts used to carry people to guillotines, this site only allows targeting of UHNIs (Ultra High Networth Individuals). This helps to cut down on all the spammy, “Watch me record me killing my girlfriend posts.” There are some real sickos on Killstarter that just pay to get the snuff videos and so if you’re trying to avoid that and just trying to fund assassinations for people who deserve it to make a positive change in the world, Tumbrl is your best bet.
