Andy writes as if the world and the characters all get together and groupthink the words, forcing him to put down everything, in whatever order it happens - it's an extraordinary style that invites you to experience the world he has built like you're stuck to the chest of the protagonist - an action camera in freefall, unedited, grasping at moments, smells sights and sounds. There is something intrinsically filmic about this opener... but it's the kind of film you would have to raise money for on Kickstarter and everyone who is supposed to know about these things would never let you make...they are wrong (as they always are) it would be a huge success because the story is so real... super-real. Love it.
Love it! Charlie reminds me of the tortie I found last year. She loves the bathroom, so she hangs out when I shower, then she rubs against my legs when I get out, and I too look like I gave up on becoming a werewolf halfway through transformation. Also, the humidity 100% feels like when I lived in a dorm just outside Philly.
Been dying to check this out and of course, it does not disappoint. Great writing, Andy. I can already tell this is gonna be a wild ride.
It was also a little nostalgic, reminding me a lot about my 20s when I was living lean with rommates and putting a lot of paper on my tongue.
